Christ-centered Coaching
At its core, coaching is an intentional conversation with someone you can trust who is committed to helping you move forward in life by walking alongside you on the journey.
Whereas counseling predominantly looks back in time to address and heal past pain, coaching is future-focused and goal-oriented. Coaching asks “What do you want to achieve? How do you want to grow? What obstacles do you need to overcome?”
In the coaching relationship, you set the agenda for what you want to accomplish. Each session zeroes in on a specific topic or goal. For example, you might want to revitalize your prayer life or discern how to employ your spiritual gifts. Or, you might want to talk about decluttering your house or responding to an annoying incident that happened over the weekend. No issue is too big or too small for coaching.
As your coach, my primary role is to ask targeted (and often tough) questions to help you discover insights, explore solutions, and decide upon action steps you will take. Transformation and lasting change occur because the insights, solutions, and actions all come directly from you. You own them all.
The Holy Spirit is at the center of every coaching conversation. He is the one who gives each of us understanding, wisdom, and discernment. He is the one who reveals truth – truth about ourselves, truth about God, truth about life, truth about the Word. He is the one who supports and sustains us. He is the one who helps us face challenges and overcome obstacles. He is our Helper and our Friend.
